Clinical benefits of the Oxford Brain Health Centre pathway compared to the routine memory clinic pathway in psychiatrists’ confidence for diagnosis and management of memory disorders
This Project is investigating the effectiveness of the Oxford Brain Health Centre (BHC) pathway in bolstering psychiatrists' confidence in diagnosing and managing memory disorders, compared to the traditional memory clinic approach. This innovative project assesses the BHC's unique assessment methods, including the use of advanced MRI scans alongside standard cognitive evaluations, for their impact on clinical confidence and decision-making.
The study retrospectively analyses health records from 100 patients, half of whom were assessed via the BHC pathway, to determine if this comprehensive approach provides a more robust framework for psychiatrists. By enhancing diagnostic accuracy and management plans through enriched assessments, the project aims to streamline the assessment battery, making it more efficient for wider NHS application. The outcome could significantly influence the future handling of memory disorders, leading to improved patient care and potentially reshaping memory clinic practices across the health service.
