Development of the MyPregnancyCare app
The My Pregnancy Care project aims to develop a comprehensive digital app to support women with hypertensive (high blood pressure) disorders during pregnancy, a condition affecting roughly 10% of pregnancies.
Hypertensive disorders can lead to serious health risks for both the mother and baby. This app, designed for self-monitoring and management, includes features for blood pressure tracking, urine testing for protein (important for diagnosing pre-eclampsia), and information about hypertension and medications. It's developed through feedback from pregnant women, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders, ensuring it's user-friendly and effective.
The goal is to empower women to actively monitor their health, enhance communication with healthcare teams, and potentially improve pregnancy outcomes. This initiative is particularly crucial for those from diverse backgrounds, ensuring equitable access to healthcare resources.
The app is set for a feasibility trial in 2024, marking a significant step towards better management of hypertensive pregnancy through digital health solutions.
