Our research project, "Managing Excess Weight in Adolescents," aims to understand and improve weight management strategies for UK adolescents living with overweight or obesity, a condition affecting one-third of this age group.
We are exploring adolescents' needs and preferences in weight management through interviews with them and their parents, recognising the differences in their perspectives. Additionally, we are examining a mobile app as a potential tool for supporting weight management. The project focuses on identifying effective and adolescent-friendly treatment options to address physical and mental health complications associated with excess weight.
By understanding young people's needs and evaluating innovative treatment methods like mobile apps, we aim to enhance the support and care provided to adolescents, ultimately contributing to healthier outcomes.
This initiative is a crucial step towards developing practical and effective weight management solutions for young people, with the potential to influence future healthcare practices.
