Research
I am child and adolescent psychiatrist and NHS consultant at the Highfield Unit and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Oxford. I am also a DPhil student (Professors M Fazel & D Freeman are my supervisors).
Currently, I am working on the self-conscious emotions of shame, guilt, and pride in eating disorders in adolescence. I have completed a large school survey (SGPED Student Survey) to explore these emotions and eating in young people aged 11-18 years. The next stage is to run a similar but shorter survey of those who suffer from an eating disorder (ED) to see how we can measure these emotions clinically with the ultimate aim of improving treatment.
