DEcision-Making support Model for whole-pathway dementia workforce COMMissioning (DEMM-COMM)
The DEMM-COMM project is pioneering the development of a health economic model which encompasses the full spectrum of dementia intervention: prevention, diagnosis, and ongoing care. By focusing on the entire pathway, the project addresses a critical gap in current planning models, which often segment care and fail to account for the interconnections between different phases of dementia management.
This model will guide local UK commissioners in making informed decisions about workforce investment, aiming to improve cost-effectiveness and reduce health inequalities. By engaging with stakeholders, including those living with dementia, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, the project ensures that the model reflects real-world needs and priorities. The ultimate goal is to provide a tool that supports sustainable and effective dementia care planning, leading to better health outcomes for individuals living with dementia and their families, while also managing the resources of the healthcare system more efficiently.
