Facilitating the Implementation of the OxWell Special Schools Survey
The OxWell Student Survey for non-mainstream schools focuses on understanding well-being and behaviour in schools catering to special educational needs (SEN). By gathering data on school experience, lifestyle, and support preferences from students in years 5 to 13, the project aims to inform SEN schools on student needs. The survey is designed to be shorted and more accessible and includes visual aids, ensuring all students can participate. This initiative will guide resource allocation and improvements in non-mainstream education, enhancing student well-being and support systems.

ARC theme: Mental health across the life course
The OxWell Student Survey, conducted by the University of Oxford's Department of Psychiatry, aims to improve the mental health and well-being of children and young people aged 9–18 across several counties in England. By gathering data on a wide range of well-being aspects including mental health, lifestyle, and school experiences, the survey provides critical insights to schools and local authorities. This project seeks to understand the factors influencing young people's well-being and their preferences for mental health support, with the ultimate goal of fostering positive changes in mental health services and school environments.
