Greater Manchester (GM) Social Housing Stop Smoking Pilot Initiative and Evaluation
This initiative addresses the higher smoking rates among social housing residents, who face significant health risks yet often find quitting challenging. This collaborative project engages stakeholders from social housing, health services, and smoking cessation programmes to develop relevant support strategies.
Through workshops and surveys, insights from residents and providers will inform the creation of tailored interventions. These interventions will then be piloted to assess their feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effectiveness. Aimed at reducing smoking prevalence and its associated health inequalities, the project represents a proactive approach to public health within vulnerable communities. Its findings will not only benefit Greater Manchester but could also guide similar initiatives nationwide, demonstrating a commitment to improving health outcomes and financial well-being for social housing residents.
