ARC OxTV PhD Scholarship in Mental Health (October 2022 start)

The 3-year doctoral degree will start in October 2022.

The focus of the research must contribute to at least one of the overall priorities of the ARC to:

• Improve patient outcomes across Oxford and the Thames Valley
• Lead evidence-based implementation nationally
• Provide high-quality evidence of clinical and cost-effectiveness
• Develop new services addressing key NHS and public health priorities

Prior to submitting an application, you will need to contact a potential supervisor within the Department of Psychiatry with your research proposal. The supervisor must have committed to provide supervision for your proposed DPhil project. The Department of Psychiatry's current research can be found at: www.psych.ox.ac.uk/research

The scholarship funds course fees, a tax-free stipend (currently £15,609 per annum), plus modest additional support for research expenses, conference attendance, and consumables.

Applicants should have at least an upper second-class honours degree in a relevant discipline. Interests should include applied mental health research and the applicant must demonstrate a commitment to involving patients and the public in research.

Applicants should apply through the formal University procedure.

Applications should include a CV (including details of previous degree(s) awarded and grades achieved), a covering letter clearly explaining how the proposal fits the remit of the Oxford and Thames Valley ARC generally and the mental health theme specifically, a letter of support from the primary supervisor, and a research proposal (maximum of 2 A4 pages).
